Mo., Ill. get hospital preparedness funds
Missouri and Illinois combined will receive nearly $19.8 million in federal grants this month to improve hospital preparedness and emergency response.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday that for fiscal 2010, Missouri will receive more than $7.4 million and Illinois was granted nearly $12.4 million.
HHS will provide a total of $390.5 million in fiscal 2010 grants to states and territories this month through its Hospital Preparedness Program. The grants are to be used by state and local governments to boost the readiness of hospitals and other health-care facilities by developing or improving a number of initiatives, including processes for hospital evacuations and interoperable communication systems.
